Testing for Intelligence

I think it’s very important to include the whole child when assessing their abilities.  An assessment helps teachers have a better understanding of that child. It identifies children’s skills, abilities and their needs.  Based on what their abilities displayed.  Once a teacher assesse the whole child, they are able to make decision s on how to implement their learning activities.

Numeracy and literacy are the assessments that are given to school age children in South Africa.
I feel that assessments benefit the teachers greatly.   It helps monitor and improve the teaching-learning process between student and teacher and in meeting individual children needs.

There was a girl in my fourth grade class whose family was less fortunate then the class. I remember her being very shy and to herself because the other kids would pick on her.   One day the teacher gave her lunch money and she was so excited. And from that point on, whenever the teacher gave her money for lunch she was such a happier person to be around and eager to learn.

According to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), 15.9 million children under 18 in the United States live in households where they are unable to consistently access enough nutritious food necessary for a healthy life ( Feeding America, 2014)

The country that I chose is South Africa.

The two main stressors that South Africans are faced with are Malnutrition and AIDS.  South Africa has more cases than any other country in the world. The use of condoms has brought down the high level of AIDS cases in some providence. African mothers are faced with the morally difficult decision of whether to prevent malnutrition in their children by breastfeeding them at the risk of them contracting HIV, or preventing HIV in their children at the risk of them not being properly nourished (“Malnutrition in South Africa”, n.d)
