Save the Children.org is the second website that I choose due to not receiving newsletters from my first choice.  Some of the outside links lead me to different sites that pertained to the topic. It also gave definitions to term that some might not be familiar with, and a wealth of data that is related to the topic. One area that I search thoroughly is the Donation section.  Save The Children website offers multiply ways for people to donate their money.  You can donate one time or on a monthly basis, make a gift donation or memorial gift, sponsor a child, corporate matching, workplace giving to name a few.  Since I haven’t received an e-newsletter I decided to look at some of the blog inquiries about Save the Children website. Some of the blogs talked about what and how can Save the Children do for their schools. Save the Children was placed in some schools to… provide support in order to improve the quality of education, by providing workshops where teachers can learn new teaching techniques that will be applied to children in their school(Savethechildren, 2014).  By exploring this week website, I discovered that bring awareness to issues and trends in the early childhood field is one way for people to become mindful of what is going on.

The information that seemed particularly relevant to my current professional development is the way that Save the Children is trying to raise money for the children and families in South Sudan because of famine.  The issue that I found to be controversial is the fact that money needed in order to get resources.  Pete Walsh, Save the Children’s Country Director in South Sudan, expressed that “We urgently need to raise funds to provide families with lifesaving food supplements…They need help and if we wait any longer, I fear all hope will be lost.” When Mr. Walsh stated that the organization needs to quickly raise money to help people in South Sudan, that statement added to my understanding of how economists is needed.  Other insights that I got from this website is that donating money can have such a positive outcome for many children and their families.
